I was cleaning my dash board this weekend and noticed flakes on the towel I was using - I looked at the dash and dammit if the dash wasn't peeling!!! Whatever coating they put over the dash is peeling right off right around the vents at the base of the windshield!! My truck only has 15k miles on it, I use Zaino Z10 leather in a bottle w/UV 40 protectant and I use a sun screen in the windshield when it sits outside in the hot sun! There's no reason it should be doing that! It's only getting worse and I have a feeling they will have to replace the dash! Is that a large undertaking?! I'd like to see what excuse they come up with to try and deny this one!

Anyone else ever have this problem?

The sun... it's all about the sun. Maybe you could get a cover...

Why get a whole new dash? You could just take you dash out and have it repainted. If you got it colormatched to your truck, it would prolly look sweet.

Bruce,

Don't know what to tell you about the dash, but I'm kinda freaked out that I work in Anne Arundel County, and out of the 16,000 or however many members we've almost got the same name. Good to know there's a local Zaino distributor too.

My dash has recently started peeling too, but this is because my buddy spilled some sun screen on the dash and it baked in the sun while we went fishing and when we came back there was a weird bubble on the dash and i tried to rub it off but the dash peeled away in about a 1 inch square area. i don't think there anything that you can do to repair it, you might just have to live with it like i am.

My dads 02 has a spot just above the gauge cluster thats peeling. I've only seen this problem on the NBS trucks though. Maybe GM is buying cheaper paint so they can charge the consumer more.

mine was peeling, so I pulled it all out and started sanding for new paint.

You have to be careful that the stuff you use is oil free, An oil base cleaner will detiorate the surface it is on. I a little soap and water on my dash. Also if you paint it, make sure you get all of that stuff off the surface or that paint will fish eye.

Go to car show and get a custom dash pad made that says bubba or my truck gets all the chicks something like that and then you won't see the paint pealing and it will on ly cost you like a 1/4 of what you would have to pay to get the dash repainted and the color to mach. just my 2 cents.
