I take it this was not the programmer that is similar to the hypertech, but the one that plgus between the harness and the ecm.

I ordered the Superchip Micro Tuner. It is just like the hypertech programmer. It plugs into the port under the dash and programs the computer..

IMHO Hypertech is the best tuner you can get. I could definatly feel a power gain at lower rpm's. And i havent even tuned it to 93 octane yet.

Did you contact superchips on this? And if so what did they have to say?

I contacted SC about this problem but they never responded to it.

Hey try this guy He helped me out when I bought a superchip flipchip from him. MTroyer@compuserve.com. He is really cool and helpful. He is a Superchip distributer. Let me know what he had to say because I interested in getting one.:smokin:

The speed shop that I work for also is a distributor. We sent the programmer back. This is not the first time we have had problems with the SC's performance levels.

Bummer, I was thinking of getting one. I had a good experience with the flipchip custom program on a f*rd I had a couple of years ago. Made a big difference overall WOT and part throttle, shifting was good to. I tried Jet and they suck no gains at all. I called Hypertech and they seemed to not know what they are talking about. I hear good things and bad things about the HPPIII mainly problems with pinging even with the 160stat and right octane. I also want the part throttle tunng and nobody offers it but superchips. I wish they would have responded to your problem. Try emailing that guy anyway he's pretty cool and knows his sh*t.Maybe he can help? Anyways let us know what you come up with.

Hey check this out http://forums.pickuptruck.com/showflat.php?Cat=&Board=UBB11&Number=155691&page=0&view=collapsed&sb=5&o=0&fpart=. This is exactly what confuses me on which one to go with.:read:

SShotrods.com-

I did some calculations and came up with these figures. Your best stock ET was 8.91 and best stock mph was 73.68. Your best HPIII ET was 8.854 and best HPIII mph was 73.88. Your best Superchips ET was 8.913 and best Superchips mph was 73.75. What this boils down to is a gain of .056 seconds ET and 0.20 mph with the HPIII tuning over stock. A loss of .003 seconds ET and gain of 0.07 mph with the Superchips tuning. Without seeing your 60 foot times, all these minute gains and losses (hundreths of a second ET and and hundreths mph) could very easily be a product of your 60 foot time. It appears that neither HPIII or Superchips, in reality, helped your vehicle. Just some observations, not an attack on your testing :) Good luck,
Jason

P.S. See the link posted above by Raully, for the track testing I did of both products.

So what ever happened? SSHOTRODSCOM?

I did not know there was a reply to the post..

The 60 times was just like the total time. Hypertech had the fastest. The only way superchips made that time was that I had to manually shift it. The times was slower then stock if I left it in drive. I agree that both programmers did not do so hot but the hypertech was the faster of the three. Keep in mind that this was for my truck which is a 5.3. The truck in the article in the post was a HD. I might could have gottin a better time with a non-custom programmer but I did not want to try.

My hypertech was the best thing that I have bought for my truck, and I have a 9psi powerdyne on it. It has made everything run better.

The thing absolutely rocks and it solved all of my pcm problems. My engine used to bog on take off with the ac on, had a flat spot at 4k rpm with the ac on and the tranny would shift slowly. My truck now hauls @ss even with the ac on and the tranny is fast and crisp with it's shifting. I'm very pleased with my superchips microtuner even though I had to send it back to superchips to be updated for my truck after I plugged it in for the first time. It's your money so you have do decide which one is best for you but I'm sold on the superchips tuner.:rocking:

 are you running the hypertech tuning in addition to your supercharger or was that before you installed the SC?
Hypertech does not recommend using the HPP3 tuning with SC. There is a supercharger module you can purchase for $199 that comes with other options in addition to SC tuning.

I put on the hypertech after the supercharger. I also have the Custom tuning module that goes with the PP3. It has custom tuning for SC, cam or headers. I was using the sc, and the header tuning. That module was worth it's weight in gold. It made it where I can run 9 psi, take my governor to 255 mph, and I can even adjust my idle RPM. I also have that module for sale is someone wants it. I will sell the $200 module, and the $300 PP3 for $275. I will always go Hypertech.

Why are you selling it if your so happy with it?Did you get rid of the truck?

The supercharger module really works. The Tahoe pulled way more with it than without up to 60mph. After that, it didn't do any good, actually may have made my truck slower in the higher speed range. A couple of guys on a different forum have also ran the module and all felt the same. No one has tested it though. One problem I had with it is that it advanced my timing too much so I was getting detonation when accelerating without dropping gear so I had to get rid of the SC tuning. At WOT it's not a problem because I have H2O injection. It really is a great product but I think for the money I'd do something else this time. Just gotta watch the pinging with HPP3s.

I am in the process of trying to sell the truck. No serious buyers yet even though I am asking about $2400 less than blue book. I am parting it out mostly so I can buy a cheap daily driver with the money until I can get the car that I really want. I still do have the truck for sale if anyone is interested. If anyone wants any parts, I have a lot of things that I am trying to sell pretty cheap, because I need some money pretty quick(Jacobs, HPP3, vortec heads, etc.). Thanks.

I never had any detonation with my HPP3. I will still always buy hypertech.
