If the scratch isn't down to the primer, I'd try a good polishing compound.

The only thing to make it look brand new would to have it repainted however there are some options for you. You could either just leave it because scratches are said to leave character ;) but if your anything like me I hate them more than anything in the world. A cheaper alternative to painting would be a system similar to this.... http://www.ultimatetouchup.com/ , if you don't want to do that then I would go to the local body shop and have them mix you up a little bottle of paint by giving them your paint color and also pick up a bottle of clear coat because you will need that too. Good luck with whatever you decide to do.

thanks for the replies I think Im gonna go with the touch up paint kit the scratchs arent bad enough to warrant repainting however it would be a good reason to get an aftermarket hood ;) but dont have the $ for that right yet maybe later on

You could try one of those color matched crayon type things. Fill in the scratch, buff out the excess, then wax. Cheap and easy way to do it. It won't be perfect, but enough to hide it a little.

i used one of those crayon type things on my truck about 2 months ago. it is an exact match, but a lot better than a gray colored scratch. you have to really pay close attention to notice it. i have only done it one and it is lasting. i say try that, its only a few bucks. if ya like what ya see, then just use that

What color is your truck? I just threw a blue one away a day or two ago. :) I got mine with a bottle of the color match Turtle Wax paint. LIke $8 I think, but still worth a try I think.

My truck color is arrival blue and it has got so many scratches i stopped noticing new ones. However one of my most annoying scratches is a 7 foot scratch starting from the front wheel well and continuing to the rear wheel well. It was caused by a grey trash can.

Will the maguires or 3M stuff work on that.

Also my Fiance picked up a can of that once a year polish in the orange container, is that stuff any good?

:fire: The colored turtle wax works pretty good for hiding swirl marks, just remember that the crayon is only temporary, I would definetly recommend touch-up paint to prevent rust. As for waxes a 3M rep told me that all waxes only last a month, so it is a good idea to wax once a month.
