I was planning on removing the needles on my gauges and scraping the paint off of them so they are clear on my 2003 GMC and was just curious what all goes along with taking the needles off and getting them back in the right spot. I have heard horror stories about peoples gauges never being the same again after removing the needles. One person told me to get the truck at operating temperature and mark all of their locations and do it that way. Thanks for any advice in advance.

When I did mine I got home froma trip so the truck was warmed up. I marked where they were with a pencil then shut the truck off used a forck to pry them off then after I was done I started the truck and pushed them back on where I had them marked. The only one that could be off on mine is the Temp, but it's not off by much.

i used a small flat-head screwdriver that had a wide head and rocked it back and forth a lilbit around the needles base, a fork sounds easier tho. and remember when you push the needles back on do NOT push them all the way down to where they touch the gauge face, the needle will rubb and not work right if it touches...
