Ok, my 98 GMC z71 did not come with the keyless entry. Is there some way i can get the factory keyless entry for my truck w/o having to get it from the dealer? (they want much $$) or do they make aftermarket keyless entrys?

Please help

yeah there are a lot of places that have aftermarket keyless entry. There are also remote starters which I hope to get soon.

Off the top of my head here are some sites.

jcwhitney.com (they are probably the best)=just search, keyless entry
stylinconcepts.com
bulldogsecurity.com
volant and bulldog are the major manufacturers

The best and easiest way would be to have an alarm installed on your truck. Most of the alarm packages come with the remote which includes a keyless entry. Plus you will have an alarm and 15% off your insurance to boot. However, you must have power door locks for this feature.

THanks guys. I just dont know if i want an alarm though. I mean, i always see these nice cars around town and you pass by them with my flowmaster and it sets them off. I dont want to have to worry about my car bein set off accidentally at school or something and be blaring for like 4 hours while im in class. Ill price some tomorrow though.

What are some good brands? I have heard of viper but thats it.

Thanks

there is an install on this in one of the last couple of Truckin Mags i believe or maybe it was Street Trucks...it's fairly cheap, and as far as the alarm going off for hours and hours...it normally doesn't go off for more then 8-10 minutes :D

Most alarms go off for 2 minutes then stop.
Good brands are Clifford and Vipor.
Any good alarm can be adjusted for sensitivity so you can just set it so it is very insensitive (that's what I did and it has never gone off from anything stupid)
If you have one near you, Best Buy sells and installs for a decent price.
Good Luck

DEI makes Vipor, Clifford, and i think Rattler (which is a brother of viper, but don't quote me on that) anything DEI makes is quality IMO. :D
