What's with the dash (especially passenger side) paint peeling? I've seen several Chevys with this problem. We just bought a 99 1500 and it's got a minor peeling problem (if you could call any peeling minor).

Is there a fix...maybe I should read the painting interior sticky!!

My console in my 99 denal also peeled, looks like it was repainted in the factory over a different shade of gray.

My passenger side on my 03 did it but I thought it had something to do with the suntan lotion that was spilt and let sit in the sun on it lol.

The dash is peeling? I thought the dash was hard plastic, mine is.

The dashes are hard plastic but they all come black. They are painted to match your interior color.

Okay, my truck had a bubble on the passenger side dash when I bought it and here is what I did:

1. Take and fill a small syringe, I used a 3cc, with a good fabric or plastic adheasive. Inject the adheasive into the bubble(s) and press the peeling layer down with your fingertips. Be sure to wipe up any glue that seeps out.

2. Cover the repair with wax paper.

3. Fill a one gallon ziploc freezer bag full of sand or dirt and place it on top of the wax paper. This will work as a weight to hold the bubble down while the glue dries overnight. Oh, and the wax paper keeps any glue that seeps out from sticking to your bag and causing a sandstorm anytime you turn on your front defroster.

The natural colour of the plastic is black but they use a Urethane top coat to match the colour of your interior.

Didnt know there was an issue with the dashes either however mine was a direct cause of the sun tan lotion.

dang first time ive heard of that... my dads 2000surb hasnt... but yet its parked in a garage so the sun doesnt hit the dash as much which might be a problem....
id say get a windshield cover or dash mat to protect it from the sun..,,,

but one good thing is you guys with the NBS can just buy a new dash cover ;) buy the smooth or flamed version dash :D wish i could just buy one for my truck :(

I see this alot. But what we usually see is the spot above the radio and the passenger side above the grab handle. Places where people usually touch. I think the paint just wasn't meant to stand up against the different types of grease and lotions we have on our hands. GM does replace it under warranty however.
