So the other day I was looking at my friend's 2004 silverado, and really started admiring the new dash. I have a 2000. I liked the bigger opening for the radio, etc... I don't mind if the mounting is a bit custom for the radio, but do ya'll think this would be possible? I guess I am just wondering how difficult it will be to swap on the new valance piece, and move things accordingly to line up...

That would be a lot of work. I don't know for sure, but you may need the whole a'c unit from 03+, The guage cluster is different, and the radio harness is different, it is databus and uses your front speakers as a door chime. There is also no accessory wire behind the radio. I think its alot of work for nothing.

I guess I will go ahead and clear this up right now. I am not interested in getting the 2004 radio unit. I have one of those motorized alpine screens, and a seperate alpine dvd player, and would love to put them together up in the dash. Right now the dvd player is down where the old tape player was in the console...

It may not be that hard to do that. You should just need to get the dash bezel that pops off from an 03+, and a Metra Dash kit #992003. Your a/c controls should be the same size as the new ones, they would just have to be mounted about 3/4 of an inch lower. You'll have to cut part of the back of the dash to do that. Then cut out part of the dash below the radio. Then the dash bezel should just snap on. That dash kit comes with iso-mount brackets, so that you can fit the radio and the dvd player, just won't use the trim rings.
