I was looking at my truck last night in the light of a headlight and realized that there are all these swirl marks...kind of like if you don't get all the polish off when you wax...it only shows up in real intense light. Should I take it back to the paintshop and see what's up or is this normal?

Swirlmarks are normal when first buffing a new paint job with certain paints.

I guess depending on what you paid, they should have also buffed those away.

If you have any trouble getting them to do it, you can do it yourself (pain in the ass) with a swirl remover.

Usually a liquid compound of about 1200 grit.

Good luck

Go back to the shop and see what they tell you,but I think after they buffed it, they never waxed it, with the hand glaze, you can do it yourself, but you have to use the good hand glaze, by 3m.

Nope, let the new paint "breath" for at least a month. I agree tho, if it was a good/trustworthy shop, take it back and have them take care of it.

Nah...I'm sick of messing with them. If I had the space...I would have painted it myself. I'll just whip out the old 3m hand glaze here in about a week if it's not too damn cold. I already had to wet sand out a run on the bottom of my roll pan...it's not anywhere anyone can see...but i'm anal like that...I want it perfect.

Matty...what's the best way to remove the over spray in the doors where they did a shitty job of masking?

Most overspray can be taken off w/ a clay-bar. The heavy stuff you might have to buff off.:(

There is no easy way, you have to buff it, you may be able to do it by hand if it's not to heavy, try the clay bar ckta is talking about, I never tried it, but He says it will work.

Lite to moderate over-spray the clay-bar will take off NO PROBLEM!:D

Hey guys, the waiting a month or two before polishing/waxing is total bullshit. That was true in the old days but no more, paints are fully cured in a matter of days, if its not cured in 5 days, it never will be. Trust me on this, if you need verification, call Sal Zaino and he will fill you in on all the technical details. ;)

Zaino is a polish, not a wax. You can use zaino 10 min. after you paint something, but you can't w/ wax.

You are right, the top clearcoat that we use at my shop will dry to the touch in 45 min, and can be buffed in 2 hours, we wax the car with the 3m hand glaze, all of those other sh*t waxes will just take paint off your car, I used the zaino on fresh paint on my own truck, and it did it's job, shines like the sun.:D

Hey Assclown!!! LOL

Its a wax in my book and many others too, it contains some carnuba, its still pretty good stuff though. 454 - correct me if I am wrong here but im pretty sure it has a bit of silicone in it as well, thus the killer shine. But its a different shine than Zaino gives off. But you know this!! hehe

You can use what ever you like on Red paint, because no one cares what it looks like......Its red!! hahahaahaha

Not all kinds of "glaze" have wax, at least what my shop uses. That's why "glaze" washes off w/ just water.:)

CKTA is wacked out on RED paint fumes :D

Yes it has sillicone, they make a few kinds, but I use the one with the sillicone, cause it will last a little longer then the one without.
