Ok, I need some major help here. I hate the ashtray power outlets that I have in my 95 Hoe. I do not smoke, or use the cigarette lighter, but I use the outlet for my cell phone. I hate having the whole thing open since it looks cheasy. I beleive 96-and newer have the panel with the outlets and cigarette lighter seperate from the ashtray. Does anyone have the part number??? Or know what the hell I am talking about:D

I know what your talking about but I dont think ours can be upgraded with the factory dash setup.. One thing you could do is what I did for my power inverter.. You can buy the plug for a couple of bucks and any automotive store and then hard wire into your relay center accessory pole. then mount the plug under the dash on the passenger side where it is out of the way and then you can plug your fone plug into it.. all you may havr to put up with is the wire for the fone but im sure you could bring that out thru the front dash vent or something... let me know if this makes sense..:D

Like caveman to caveman.:D I know exactly what your saying. I thought about that also. Just trying to clean up my interior... I am going to measure my old 98 Hoes 2 inserts and see if they equal the same as our one insert. If so, the rest will be easy! if not, then your idea is the next best thing!

back in the day I wanted to do what your up with now but I decided to leave it so that I had a place to mount my CB and scanner as in this pic.. Of course there is another thread about a custom dash setups in a newer model and maybe I can make something to hold the cb and scanner and cover it with matching carpet.. Id have to scope it out and see if I could do that without it looking too fugly..

 Try chrome dipping that metal strap holding the 2 togther. Or maybe even powder coating it:D :D Just kidding. That is how my other Tahoe looked, since I am a Vol. Fireman/EMS. We switch to a new paging system, so I do not worry about other companys for now! I don't need another scanner yet!

Ya, that bracket kinda looks like ass, thats one of the reasons im thinking about a custom console to hide it all. Maybe throw in a few gauges to spice it up a bit.. Id like a seperate volt gauge for each battery I have in my truck too

Great news for me, they are an exact size and shape match. The just put a 2 peice setup in the new ones instead of the one peice like ours. Now for the part number!
