SLMDLT1 06-14-2005, 07:59 AM Any tips? I looked at my truck and saw bolts and rivets. anything else I need to know? Does the steering column need to be dropped? GoCougs 06-14-2005, 09:19 PM What do you mean by the dash shell? If you just mean the plastic front piece on the dash, start at your headlight switch and pull gently. Put the transmission in 1st gear and put the stearing wheel all the way down. Then just disconnect any wires as you go. Also extend your cup holder out. You just have to pull it off. It isnt that hard. Mitch SLMDLT1 06-14-2005, 09:33 PM lol, no, i mean the entire dash shell. all the way to the windshield. i have taken the other pieces off a few hundred times. thanks though. Grunmn 06-14-2005, 09:45 PM I am going to be doing mine soon. What people have told me is that you undo all of the little screws around the dash and then you're suppose to unbolt the two bolts on the steering column and lower it. Then the dash should just swing forward and you can pull it out. I'll check to see if I can find a little write up somebody gave me on here. EDIT: I found a couple of them - TAKE THE PANEL OFF BELOW THE COLUMN. UNBOLT ALL OF THE METAL PLATES BEHIND IT. UNBOLT THE SUPPORT SECTION THAT RUNS ACROSS BELOW THE COLUMN. UNBOLT THE 2 COLUMN BOLTS UP CLOSEST TO THE WHEEL, BASICALLY RIGHT BELOW THE CLUSTER. ALSO UNBOLT THE TWO BOLTS THAT HOLD THE DASH RIGHT BY THE PIVOT PLATES ABOVE THE KICK PANELS. (ONE ON EACH SIDE AT OPPOSITE ENDS) NOW UNBOLT THE THREE BOLTS THAT ARE ON THE TOP IN THE DEFROSTER VENT. CHECK BEHIND YOUR GLOVE BOX AND SEE IF THERE ARE ANY BEHIND THERE AND IF NOT THE DASH SHOULD PULL OUT A LITTLE BIT AND ROTATE DOWN TO THE FRONT. THEN YOU CAN GET TO EVERYTHING BEHIND IT. IF YOU RUN INTO A SNAG FEEL FREE TO EMAIL ME BECAUSE I AM IN THE PROCESS OF DOING A COLOR SWAP IN MY INTERIOR RIGHT NOW SO I AM PRETTY FRESH ON THE REMOVAL OF ANY INTERIOR STUFF. JUST HAD MY DASH OUT TWICE IN THE LAST TWO DAYS. GOOD LUCK. IBSRJOE@SBCGLOBAL.NET dash removal: As far as the dash , good luck and have fun!!! Remove 3 screws on top, 2 bolts on each lower corner, remove glove box and you will be able to access, the nuts holding in the airbag, remove it and place aside, remove screes along bottom part od driver side dash, snap off cover under steering column, remove nuts holding crossbar under steering column, remove nuts holding steering column up and let column lay in the floor. Dash should pivot towards you at a downward angle. Reach in the back and pull wiring harness from back of dash, takes a lot of force its in there. That is a basic overview of how to do it. There are little screws in there that need to be removed, but I covered the main parts. Basically take your time and set a side a few hours. chvylac 06-14-2005, 09:46 PM you need to drop the column to the floor and then there are only about 8 bolts maybe less that have to come out your gonna have to undo everything off the bottom the the dash will tilt back to you from the windsheld and come out GoCougs 06-14-2005, 10:38 PM Oops, sorry man Mitch vBulletin® v3.8.2, Copyright ©2000-2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
