I wanted to ask the guys who have installed these...

What all do you get with it? Do they just plug right into your truck? Are there any modifications that you have to do at all or is it just plug and prey?

Do they work on GM and Chevy trucks?

One more question...do you have the part Number??

Thanks!

I have the cluster in my truck, I love it! Totally plug-n-play, at least on the 2000+ trucks. On the 99's it works but the airbag light stays on. All I did was cut out a piece of electrical tape to cover the light, you can't even see it. It works for both GMC and chevy truck, here is a pic of mine:D

Busted Wreckmaster :D ;)

Josh what about the mileage? Didn't you have to take it somewhere and have it imputed for you? Or did you go the cheap route and buy the mileage sticker?

Actually I have been lazy and done nothing. But next trip to the dealer I think I'll just go the cheap route and get the sticker:D:D

If you don't get the mileage changed over...drive your truck for 20,000 miles, and then put the old one back in. What happens?

Does it recalibrate when you plug the old ones back in?

Thanks

I think the PCM or whatever holds the mileage too so if they checked and it was off by 20K thats considered Fraud?? :) hehe I dunno

From everything I have read, only the guage holds the actual mileage. Anyone wanna be a test dummy??;)

How much do those gauges cost? Whats the part number? I have the indiglos but I am not thrilled with them. What about the denali gauges, I have heard people talk about them, what do they look like and how about the cost and part number?

I brought home a 2002 tahoe about 2 weeks ago(for the wife) and found this forum a few days later. The Escalade cluster caught my eye and I think it looks great, but I've got a few questions: Will it plug right in to a 2002 tahoe? In my cluster now there is no Trans temp gauge like the escalade, has anyone made this one operational, and what would be necessary to make it work? I checked with GMparts direct and they are selling the cluster for $207 and about 35 for shipping, anyone get a better price recently? sorry for the length and thanks for the info.

Hmm, I don't see why it wouldn't fit in the Tahoe, although I'm not 100% positive. The trucks all come with the temp wiring already on them, so when you plug the guage in it works right away. I got mine from gmparts but you might want to check with www.partszoneonline.com, they have been pretty good:)

Does anyone have any idea what happens if the Denali or Escalade cluster is swapped into a truck with a Manual transmission?

I'm pretty sure that Escalades are auto trans only...

Would I be driving around in Park all the time?

I can't wait to get the Escalade cluster for mine. I've been drooling over it for a long time. Partszoneonline has about the best prices in my opinion and they also charge realistic shipping.

I have the pn's on my parts webpage if you're still searching for it.

The clusters are cool as hell!...But what about the milage? What do you have to do keep it accurate? Does the computer keep up with it? Does the milage just carry over when you plug i the new cluster? Anyone know? Sorry for all the Questions! Kinda feel like a dumba$$. :dunce::confused: Oh well...Thanks guys!

The mileage does not carry over. You have to have it programmed into the cluster. :(

Thanks for the info! Is the dealer the only one equipped to program it? Who else would be able to do it?.....Here I go again with all the questions!! Thanks again!

I'm sure the dealership sends it out to a local speedo shop to be programmed. I would call around and check with a few local shops; they probably charge you less to.

I saw in the first couple posts that the airbag light will stay on in a '99 and some '00 models. Does anybody know if the airbags will still work on an Escalade cluster swap on a '99 GMC even with the light on? Is there any way to turn the light off with the GM diagnostic tool or find out a module to replace to turn it off?

As far as I know they cluster and the Air Bags are not linked in any functional way. The reason for the light is that a few harnesses are wired differently thus keeping the light lit. If you knew what wire it was you could just trim it our reverse it in the harness.

This is what my GM Friend told me at least.
