I have some minor surface scratches, long story short I parked next to some bushes it was really wind and they scratched the side of my truck. So I am needing to know what to use, do I need rubbing compound? Swirl remover? You can't feel them with your finger so I think I can get them out. Tell me what and need and where I can get it. help!

Wish i could help ya , but living in the desert with a 4 by and also using it rough and at work, i gave up on keeping the scratches out about a week after i bought it. so my truck has lots of nice AZ pinstriping. After parking at the university though, this past year i've got lots of new dents:cussing: :cussing: and some how i got 3 scratches just behind the drivers door from someone opening a door and scratching it along, all 3 scratches went to bare metal:cussing: :cussing:

Go to an auto paint supply store and buy some "3M Fill & Glaze". It's pink stuff that looks like Pepto. Dab it on a soft cotton cloth and hand-buff the scratch until it disappears.
It works GREAT on light scuff marks on my black truck. I was able to remove slightly deeper scratches (that have a white appearance) but lightly wetsanding with a very fine grit sandpaper and then handbuffing with 3M Fill & Glaze.

heh i gotta take care of a lot of scratches im finding now too... only had my baby 3 months now :| put a deep scratch in the side... not gonna say how but my truck looks damn good with it and the trim/emblems removed :D gonna use this dupli-color flawless on it and some touch up paint from gm... should do the trick for it (the scratch is down to metal) then i've got some rock chips in the hood and other junk to take care of... chevy needs some type of chip kryptonite film on the trucks to guard it from scratches.

3M Rubbing compound works great for me, I've been using Meguiar's Swirl Remover 2.0 lately since it is less abrasive and it seems to do a great job as well, but if there deep I would use the rubbing compound and the swirl remover on the minor ones followed by a coat of wax.

I've always had good luck with DuPont #7 Clearcoat polish then a good over coat of wax. Last year I ran through a swampy area with my emerald green 97 Z71. I caught a broken limb from the start of the parking lights on the passengerside to the back bumper. When I saw the scratch I thought I was #%@*ed. It took me about an hour but when I was done the scratch was almost invisible. I could see it if I looked real close but if I didn't know it was there I wouldn't have picked it out.
