I want a cubby hole where my air bag switch is what do I need to do? Is it a simple job?

i donno what the part number is but its a very easy swap. just pull off the dash and pull out the airbag switch, and the other 2 blank spots as a whole. its held in by 4 clips. the you have to unplug the airbag switch to pull it out. i just shoved mine back into the dash and turned it on and zip tied it to some other wires. then put the new cubby in and replace dash

I priced the pocket from mark for the 97+ OBS dash and its either 43 or 46 dollars, can't remember which. Looks like a pretty simple install.

Oh ok. I reread his post, now it makes sense. I think it was our 02 Tahoe that had that instead of the switch. Made a nice place to put the cell phone.

Yup, I keep my celly in that spot too, mine even has like a non-skid surface on the bottom...pretty cool.

Blah, it was like a $14 part from the dealer for my truck. What year is your truck? I just kept the airbag switch on and shoved it back there. Just like ianbroste said.


I believe this is the part #...hard to tell from my invoice. Maybe someone else can confirm this.

So I called the guy at the parts dept. and he said it won't fit my truck. Is he full of ****? 2001 Silverado.

I don't know if they are exact same or not....they have to make one for your truck though I would think. Did you ask him if they made one for yours?

Yeah, I don't remember what he said, but he seemed quick to get off the phone. I will probably go there tomorrow and figure it all out.

FINALLY got one and installed it. So nice to have a dedicated place for my phone!
