Today I bought newer style mirrors to replace the dumbo ears on my 89. I got the door panel most of the way off, but I can't get the power window and power lock things unhooked to get them out of the way. How do I get them out?

You shouldn't need to pull the door panel...just the sail panel.

If his is like mine the panel is all one piece. The trim around the edges just unclips. You can leave the harness into the switch panel and just pull it through the door panel when you get it undone. Just did mine yesterday!!

Do you mean the electrical connections? 'Cause that panel is connected to the door panel.

back to subject >>> Cant you just unhook the door panel and let it rest straight down on a chair or something while you install the new mirrors?

In JBs pic I got the grey panel arou8nd the switches loose, its just clipped, but it is hanging by the wires and there isn't much room to work with. I tried gettin the panel off without those out but it doesn't wanna come off enough for me to get in there.

I just got home from school, so I will go try it again.

Anybody know what size those nuts are? I think I might be able to get in there.

I see you in here CKTA, out with it. lol

There should be more then enough slack in ther to at least pull the panel loose and then rotate it up or down to clear the 3 mirror bolts.

I just finished with the pass. mirror. Had to take the panel off to get the clips back in it. Went to the local auto parts store and the had 6 of the clips, which didn't fit once I got it back and opened the package. So now I have to get the drivers side. Hopefully I don't run out of light.

Got it done. Drivers door panel was a pain too. It was already missing clips from someone taking it off before. Had a problem with the power lock switch. I had power unlock but no power lock. Everything is done now though, looks pretty good.

PRess the tabs to release the switches out of that gray panel. Then the harness slides out too.
