I want to get suede inserts for my seats but im in and out of my truck everyday. I was wondering how durable is the fabric? I dont want to get it then 2 months down the road it wears out. Also whats the best durable fabric to do the seat in so the side where i get in and out doesnt rip?

Yes, I have my flames done in Ultrasuede. It's synthetic and is supposed to be much more durable than real suede.

That ultra suede looks pretty nice but seems hard to come by. Hey Tribal where did you find yours at?

They key to keeping any suede looking good is keeping it CLEAN. :read: When it gets dirty it gets matted down and worn out faster. So if you will be useing the truck as a daily driver I would throw a towel over the seat for extra protection during stupid daily commutes and erans.

My interior guy did the seats. He picked it up. most upholstry shops will have it, or can get it for you if you want to do it yourself.

Don't mean to jack your thread, but since it's the same topic. I have suede inserts, and they are getting a little dirty. What do you use to clean them? I cant find any detailing places that will touch the suede.

My interior guy told me to use wax and grease remover on the ultrasuede. he says it doesn;t hurt it.. I've used it to clean a few spots already. it works well...

Hey bud don't get your panties in a wad. I was just saying that suede and durability don't belong in the same sentence.

and the :lame: comment was directed more toward the suede then at you. It is a good idea to cover it up to protect it but just seems stupid to pay big bucks for your seats if you sit on Egyptian cotton.

To the original poster:

Suede is not very durable, two peolple I know have factory suede inserts in their cars and both of them(one a 2003 and the other a 2004) are noticibly worn. So two months...no. Two years...yes. You can make it last longer if you baby it. Unlike leather and cloth, suede is hard to clean. Personally for a daily driver I would get full leather, clean & condidtion it regularly and be done with it.

Suede is for moccasins and Elvis shoes......and those silly jackets with all the tassles on the arms used by folks that trap and skin beavers. :aniteef:

 Yeah guess suede isnt such a good idea for a daily driver. Guess maybe some leather inserts would be better to handle the daily abuse. Maybe one day I'll have the money to actually have a weekend truck with all kinds of suede.

My '96 850R has Alacantra Suede inserts in all of the seats from the factory (Part of the special "R" Package). The car is 10 years old now, and my car, having been well maintained (Although daily driven much of its life), still has suede seats that are like new. The suede isn't beaten up or dirty or worn down. Its all a matter of getting TOP QUALITY suede or ultrasuede, and keeping it clean and being careful not to get into the car dirty dirty and such. Suede can last a long time, it just requires being MAINTAINED.
