Hey everbody, a few quick questions. First, how hard is it to install an overhead console in an OBS (98 gmc ext cab)? Second, would it be cheaper to recover or just replace my front factory seats? Third, is replacing the carpet fairly involved, or is it relativly straightforward (I'll have the seats out anyway), and how much should I expect to pay for oem carpet?
Thanks everyone.

OEM carpet is the way to go but it's pricey:( maybe 350.00
It's not that bad of an install for the carpet, I did it a few times without any problems.

Overhead console: Check the tech articles, there is a write up.

Recover as in a new OEM seat cover you will put on yourself? Replace as in the entire seat itself with something else? I personally would just put some new stock covers on them.

Carpet should be straight forward. Strip interior of anything secured to the floor and start pulling it up.

No idea.

Go to www.Auto-Interior.com (http://www.auto-interior.com/) for genuine ACC carpet for under $125 shipped!!(a little higher for custom colors) Which is great replacement carpeting. I've got them in two of my GM's. Not super heavy but as thick if not slightly thicker than oem with the heelpads sewn in the right spot, oem style insulation and the general areas for bolt holes and wiring holes marked on the back too.

Replacing the carpet is a breeze once everything is out (e.g. seats, kick panels, consoles, etc.). I used aftermarket carpet and am very happy with it. However, it doesn't have nearly as much insulation and padding as the OEM. That is okay with me.
