mounting oh chit handles in a 2wd

My dad picked up an oh chit handle at the junk yard the other day for me. I want to put it above the passengers side window like the 4x4's have. I have felt around under the headliner and there are already two holes there but no threads that I could feel. Logically thinkging there ought to be a nut tacked in each hole that way you just cut the two holes in the liner and bolt the handle up but I don't feel any nuts tacked up there. I don't know how they are mounted in the 4x4's but I would think it would be this method, or does GM use some weird ass type of nut to secure the oh chit handles? I've looked at hardware stores and chit for blind rivet nuts but they all give me this :wtf: look and say never heard of such a thing. A little help here would be much appreciated. TIA.

just take off your apillar and pull down the headliner a few inches, that wont hurt it...

I'm asking how to fasten the handle since there are no threads there, not how to get to the holes:slap:

I wanted to do that to my 91' 2x, but when I had it all torn apart, there weren’t even holes there to even try and mount the handle. I said screw it, I wasn’t about to go through all the hassle for a handle. At least you have the holes. I’m thinking your SOL unless you want to cut additional slots in the inner headliner (sheet metal part) and slide nuts & washers back there ~ dunno.

The plan is to have an oh chit handle above all four side windows. John Deere uses blind rivet nuts on the cab tops of the older tractors and they would/will work fine, but they are too small to use the pre existing holes in the cab frame work. Really I only need two of the half inch diameter rivet nuts but like I said nobody seems to have ever heard of them before.

Pull the headliner down and weld some nuts that fit those 10mm bolts into the holes.
Use the nuts with the wide base and you can get a good enough bead to hold whatever fat chicks you load up.

I can't even get fat chicks so they aren't gonna be for anything other then so my dad can get in. If I ever get a chick I'm gonna be a gentleman and assist her in getting in and shut the door for her so she doesn't slam it.

Back on topic, I may pull the headliner down a bit and see what I've got to work with and go from there.
