my friends at the body shop just pulled a sunroof assem. out of a 2002 tahoe. i was wondering if i could get it to work in my x-cab sierra. i know the c3 denalis have the sunroof option, and i would rather have a factory style sunroof. anyone knok if it will work? i can get this thing for $100.00. :naughty:

I am sure it will work, and 100 bucks is a smokin deal. But getting it installed will cost a pretty penny(having any sunroof will). That is , unless you are capable of putting it in yourself.

mans that is a really good deal and it would be sweet to have it installed. im not sure about how costly or even possible it is thought, cause i think the headliner is dropped down for the sunroof to slide open?

i am going to look at the dimentions of the sunroof tomorrow and compare them to the size of my ex-cab top-then go from there.

Should just cut, glue, throw it in, seal, and done.

You'd be better off to get an aftermarket one that is made for your truck.
That one is made to fit a roof that was special made for it. You'd end up spending twice the money to adapt it.

Look at the way it was installed on the tahoe. The roof may be made with the sunroof cutout already in it. If the sheet metal rolls in to form a recess lip for the sunroof then you can't do it. If the sunroof has a rim that is removed with it then it will work. I installed a pop up sunroof that is removable in my regular cab and it's great. The reason it worked is that when I cut the hole it had a rim that screwed in place to form the recess for the sunroof. I paid $40 for my pop-up from ebay and installed it myself. For the chevy you need to get a double curved sunroof. One that curves from side to side and front to back. The front to back is important because of the dramatic curve just before the windshield. Otherwise you'll need to install the sunroof further back. If you want a power roof pay to have it done with a warranty!!!
I put some pictures of my sunroof install. I have yet to install the headliner and need to rub out my repaint of the roof.

what did you seal it with?

what did you seal it with? I sealed mine with butyl. Does yours have an outer ring and an inter ring that sandwiches the roof pannel? Do not use silicone because its seal will be broken by vibration.
