Hey everyone;
Chevy truck newbie here.
How the hell do I disconnect or remove the relay that makes that annoying ding ding sound when I have the keys in and the door open!?
(I am normally a VW driver and remove the relay on all my Dubs, but don't know if the relay on the Chev controls more than just this sound.)
Any help???
Thanks! :D

it matters alot of what year you have. I believe in the 04 and up the circuit for the dinger runs through the factory stereo then to the front left speaker.
there is a wire you could unhook but unsure. It would lead into the radio. Or you could just buy an aftermarket stereo and call it a day. Oh wait then you get onstar and xm problems. Man what is with gm these days? :word:

How would you do it on an 04....screw with the sensor maybe so the truck thinks the door is always closed?

That chime is the most annoying thing I have ever heard.

You cant do that or else the radio and other retained power accessories wont shut off when you open the door...

Cut the wires to every speaker in the truck.

They go off after 10 minutes anyway, not that them not going off would bother me anyway. They would still go off if the passenger door was opened.

What I do is just pull down the latch on the door that catches the hook on the body (reg & crew cab) or rear door (on ex cab). Ding stops.... just remember to open it back up before closing the door.

The idea of cutting the wire crossed my mind. Do all the nbs have power windos and/or locks? I know when the power control panel on the door is not hooked up the dings stops.

You can hold the display button in on the radio until it beeps. Do that a couple times and the dinger will quit. Have to do it every time though.

Replace it with and aftermarket radio and leave the dinger unhooked...

Can you tell where the 'dinger' is? I have an '01.

Yeah, I'm not sure my 'dinger' is rigged up with the radio either (mine's a 2000), but the idea of holding the door thingy so it thinks the door is closed might work ;) provided I can put something there to hold it! :o

I work outside and often have the door to the truck open while I'm working and if I want to listen to tunes or just have the keys in, the stupid dinger goes off!!! >:(
Anyway, thanks for any help :).

It does work. And you don't have to have something hold it down. Just set it in position and it stays. Just remember to pull one of the door handles to open it back up before you close the door.

Take the key out of the ignition.
