The shifter in my truck is very loose you can move it around and I was wondering how to tighten it up so there is no play in it and have it harder to put in and out of gear?

Boosted-Z71 12-28-2005, 11:57 AM If you take off the lower & upper steering column covers the shifter assembly is mounted to the columm, You can disconnect the shift cable & brake interlock & remove the shifter asm for inspection. As I recall from installing my floor shifter & removing the column shifter there is a ball & sleeve that could be worn on your shifter. I also thought there was a spring in there also but cant really remember, when I took mine out it went straight to the round can.
