Overhead console question, short vs long.

Its my understanding that the long console is compatible from OBS to NBS, correct? If so I should be able to install a short console from a NBS into my OBS. The part thats confusing me is the way it attaches to the roof, on the OBS long console, there are 2 tabs on the back that slide into the roof, with 1 screw on the front. The few pictures of the back of the short console look as if its clips in place by 4 tabs. Ideas?
