how do you get rid of water spots on a black truck.

You are going to have to compound your truck. Depending on how hard the water was that gave you the spots is what determines what kind of compound you need. If it was hard water then you will need a heavy compound. Then you will want to polish and then wax your truck.

Where did the spots come from?

Try a clay bar, i also hear that a vinagar mix with water removes them too.

Use the clay bar....it will take them out.

Use the clay bar....it will take them out. :think: Clay wont remove the spots like compounding will. If you have spots that means you haven't been keeping up on waxing your truck unless the spots are from very hard water.

I know that vinegar works well on soft water spots on windows, but i'm not sure about paint...i used about a couple ounces of vinegar per qt of water, and i scrubbed it off the windows with no problem, but i would try giving your baby the royal paint treatment you won't be dissapointed...

I would wash the truck with a degreasing soap suck as dawn to take the wax off down to the paint in sections drying quickly with a chamois and when you are done start on the waxing and claying and polishing and touching up...i know i need to...now all i need is the time...anyone wanna baby sit for 9 hours this weekend? huh any takers...damnit :D

Using heavy compound is not a good idea on the factory clearcoat, it cuts really fast and if you don't know what your doing you will damage the clearcoat. I would stick to the claybar it's safer.

MOST water spots will come off w/ clay, if they don't they are etched into the paint and no matter what you use they will still be there. Even before clay I would try vinegar first.

Very true....what I would if I were him is to try something light and if that doesn't work then give the clay a shot and if that still doesn't work have a mobile detailer clean it up for you.

what do you mean did i move...? I have been here for 4 years unfortunately...:( I used to live out west :D...i just go back there everynow and then to see family...

Probablly in socal...near riverside...not exactly sure yet...where ever i find a good deal on a house i guess that is nice.
