Blinking Odometer in a NBS

WTF!!!! its drivin me crazy!! i was just wondering if anyone else has had a problem with the lcd screen where the odometer/gear selection is located in a NBS. mine goes out and to get it to come back on i have to give it a good tap and sometimes a hard hit to get it to come back on.

My dad's truck is doing that right now, it's a PITA. We just ended up bringing it back to the dealer under there 60 day warranty policy, they are replacing the cluster.

Its not an LCD, its a VFD. VFD's have a small transformer giving a high voltage to make them work and a common failure is bad solder joints on those transformers. If its out of warranty pull out the cluster and a soldering iron.

pretty common problem, its a loose connection on the back. if you hold the black trip thing donw with a little bit of pressure youll be able to see gear/mileage etc, or hitting the dash works.

it bothered me at first but im so used to it now It dont matter if i can see it or not, I just go by how many clicks over from park for what gear its in :crazy:
