well not sure which youd call it choped or sectioned or WHAT EVER...

heres the idea.... or you could say delima...

my new console box i want to do for my 12inch RE SX BUT until now i thought it would fit with no modifications....

well its either a downfiring box BUT i dont want that! i wanna be able to show this sucker of ;)

so its 2 other choices..... either
ONE build the box to roll up over the lower bench part..... BUT seat will be stuck down.
OR
TWO take apart the lower bench seat and chop out the middle and frame up the choped out section of course so its still solid.

BUT this will be a TOTAL trial or error chop....
but i think if it all turned out right the rear bench would be close to looking like 2 bucket seats BUT it would still be one piece and fold down then back if wanna also build a toolbox storage area under the seat....

anyone ever done anything like this?

i know it would probably be easier to build frames for some real bucket seats BUT that costs money....LOL saw, scrap steel and needle/thread free ;)

anyone ever gutted a rear bench seat to see what the skeleton looks like?

After readin' your heat/AC relocate again thread I figured this would come up. If I remember correctly, you should be able to take the covering off of the bottom portion of the seat w/o too much trouble. From there you'll just need to remove the padding, and then basically make a big C-notch however big you need it to clear the console. Just remember, when you add steel to the center, it'll be uncomfortable as a mother**** if anyone ever tries to sit in the middle!

well your kinda right BUT the middle part will be completly removed.....
only thing conecting the seats would be a few inches of steel conecting the two sides. so the seat could still be folded down and then tiped back.... ive gotta chop out the top section as well since the seat has to fold down forwards first then tilted back.

i guess i didnt word it very good. sorry

but the box will basicaly be like a full length console box from front of the truck and as far back as i can with the seat choped out like this....
im just kinda hesited about choping the seat apart in this experiment...

:sorry: I guess I didn't read your 1st post that well. I didn't realize that you wanted the entire middle gone. Sounds more like you're gonna be getting into fabricating just about the entire seat using the old one for the mounting points & locking mechanism if you don't do buckets. I don't think the amount of steel used in the factory seat will be enough to support the approach that you're wanting to take.

Just out of curiousity, did you get to work on it this weekend?

no i desided to just do a under rear bench seat box and ditch the middle console box design like i thought about first...
so now im just gonna lift the seat and glass the floor.
im stretching for cash right now so i can buy a amp for this sub BUT im waiting on two guys to pay for my 2 spare subs. and they are taking thier sweet @ss time!!!!!!! so im trying to save all my money to buy this amp! but as soon as i get enough cash i will start building.
