So ive been thinking and im gonna let K-D Trim(local shop in town) do my Headliner, visors, center console, and that little section on my door panels in suede. Its gonna be all black, and im thinking about having them incorporate flames in the headliner and/or Visors...little flames in the door panels wouldnt look bad either...Its going in monday, they gave me a bada$$ deal and ill be sure to take pics as soon as it gets done. :smokin:

sounds good be shur to get some pics, im going to get the stuff and do it myself. im going to go with dark grey since my interior is the light grey, im going do do inserts in my seats with it too eventually. The black will look great with the white truck, i know a guy who did his headliner and doors with black crushed velvet and it looked killer.

they are givin me a hell of a deal...im gonna be paying 350 bucks including fabirc and foam. I was going to do it myself with my brother cause he used to work an uphostery place, but the suede isnt plyable and easy to stretch and whatnot. Need the use of a heat gun to get it to stretch for my headliner (2003). Im pretty stoked about it and yes ill post pictures ASAP!

Is it real suede? Or is it that awesome stuff they put in the WRX STi?:charge:

CCChevyZ
03-25-2006, 11:42 PM
its the real stuff, JoAnns has some stuff similar to the stuff this place is gonna use...the Joanns suede is a little lighter, but either way, i tried stretching that stuff and it would be a pain in the a$$!

Ive never seen the stuff in a WRX

Ive never seen the stuff in a WRX

I'm sure they put it in other cars, but thats where I saw it. I understand its called microfibre or something-real grippy like suede-I was impressed.

Just be careful when you're getting a "great deal" on suede. My understanding is that a lot of the more affordable stuff doesn't have the same UV resistance as the more expensive "alcentara", and will fade badly very quickly.

Yeah i asked the owner about this material fading, and he said that he hasent seen any problems with his material fading, they also guarantee their work. I have known like 4 people who have had work there in the past and ive never heard anything negative about his work.

He also said that i am gonna have a little extra fabric to play with, so im thinkin about maybe once i get it back covering those 2 front A pillars in it as well...

Looks great, im going with the 2 tone on my interior too i have the light grey interior and allready have done a charcole bezel, all 4 armrests, speaker grills, grab handle and av vents on the pass side and in the console. Im going to do charcole carpet and charcole suede like you have done, should look good when i get it done. Not shur how im going to do the seats yet.

CCChevyZ
03-29-2006, 08:11 PM
Yeah soon im gonna get my seats done...I want them re-covered in black leather, with suede inserts, for the suede part in the seats i may go with a tan/khaki like my over head console, not sure yet...its well in the future, i dont have the kinda money to do that anytime soon. Thanks though man!

Brent:Smokin:

BEN IV
03-29-2006, 08:23 PM

The interior looks great. I was actually wanting to do this also with a charcoal suede. The only thing, have you found black hardware like the dome light cover and handles or are you going to keep it the way it is? I think they have plastic dye but i don't know if it works very well. My only heitation is not having matching colors. has anyone used the dye or can you buy colored harware.

I think that looks great.....did you say that they did the center console too?

I just ordered some suede material and I plan on attempting to do some parts on my door panels. If I screw it up I guess I will just be SOL. I have tan interior on a indigo blue truck and I already have some blue painted parts but I wanted to do something different thats why I'm going to add some navy suede to the interior. I need to do something with my center console.....its just too plain, I don't know if I want to paint it or what. I guess I will see how my door panels turn out then decide whats next.

I will try to post up pics of the results with my truck. I should be getting the material in the mail any day now.

yea man you better do it bc i wanna do the same. i took some scrap suede and did a few things around the house, like my 4 d-cell mag flashlight, handle bars on my bicycle and stuff like that. i just cant figure out how i would do it to the little inserts on the door panels.

I did a quick test last night on parts that I can easily get to and redo if needed. I wanted to test some parts before I tried to tackle the door panel. I tried to do this while my son (4 years old) was outside with me and that was a bad idea. He kept needing me for stuff and telling me to "watch him" on the trampoline so I did a half ass job. I will redo the handle this weekend when I have more time but I still like the way it will look. What do you think.

Also should I put some material on the lower right corner of the door panel or would that be overdoing it?

Thanks....I kindof surprised myself too.

those two pieces only took about one hour total but thats the problem....I was distracted and rushed so I 'm gonna redo the handle part. The material doesn't really stretch you just have to work it alittle bit at a time till you get it right. The best thing is to try to fit the material and see how your gonna make it fit BEFORE you spray it with adhesive

I would go ahead and do that little depressed section in the lower door. Wrap the material around an appropriately shaped backing board and attach it somehow. Looking great so far.
