anyway around rear child safety windows?

Hey all
not sure this is the right forum ,but
I have a 03 Tahoe, and I was wondering if theres a way to get the rear windows to open/roll all the way down, right now they have the child safety deal and only go about half way down and I really have no need for this option

Hmm you may be right, I never even thought of it
I just figured it was a child safety deal,
but thinking of it now, your prob right, its pretty annoying though
for whoever sits back there, It barely opens halfway

yep - makes the extra $$ for a Suburban worth it all of the sudden :D

I too think that it's the door. My crew cab lets them all the way down. If it were a safety feature, I would think that GM would use it across the board.

Yea its all pretty clear now, I didnt even consider it
my son was complaining this morn about it, and I figured I'd look into it...
I forget what vehicle I/we had but my wife had one that had child safety windows and they didnt open all the way
BUT they did open more than these Tahoe windows
Oh well I really didnt feel like ripping into that door anyway,
and I have a great excuse for not fixing it :wink:

The windows will not open all of the way because of the rear wheel wells. Manufatures stated that as a child saftey feature when they first started doing that to convince people it was done for saftey.

Yep, it is beacuse of the shape of the door shell, however in some vehicles like the trailblazer the extended model with the third seat the rear windows will go all the way down, so it all just depends on the shape of the door

If yours don't open halfway, you should still have it checked out. I have a tahoe and they open about 3/4.

The expedition has a rear window that rolls all the way down, but it is a split window. They basically put in a solid window over the wheel well and squared the glass so it would roll all the way down.
