Anybody mounted any gauges in the overhead console in 96-99 trucks? I've seen stuff for the newer trucks, but not for the 96-99 stuff. Any suggestions would be awesome!!!

ILLEGAL REGAL 05-11-2006, 06:14 PM Haha I just asked the same damn thing over on gmfs... I think the pod for the overhead deal is the same in 97+02 96tahoelt 05-11-2006, 11:02 PM Dakota Digital makes a plate that goes where the rear A/C controls would be. It can hold two 2 1/16" gauges. Here's a link about it: http://www.dakotadigital.com/index.cfm/page/ptype=product/product_id=396/category_id=103/home_id=59/mode=prod/prd396.htm vortec stroker 05-12-2006, 01:44 PM The overhead consoles are different, as the 96-99 units are smaller. Oh well, I just need a space to install a trans temp gauge other than the pillar. I have a monter tach on my dash on the left hand side, and a gauge pod would make things look cluttered. Any other ideas on where to mount a trans temp gauge? 96tahoelt 05-12-2006, 03:10 PM The plate from DD is made for the 95 and up overhead console. http://www.dakotadigital.com/cartimages/prd_zm_396.jpg vortec stroker 05-12-2006, 04:35 PM I know it says that it will fit 95 and up, but my plate only measures 1-5/8" wide. The only way a 2-1/16" gauge would fit is if the DD plate is oversized and sticks out over the factory dimension, which it does not look like in the picture. Perhaps it fits the 95 and up rear overhead consoles in Suburbans etc. I hope I'm wrong, but I just cant see it physically fitting in their unless the DD plate is made to extend over the factory console in some positions. You can either get the large opening which came in mostly the Tahoe/Yukon and Suburban's or the small thin front opening found in most Z-71's and Extended cab trucks. If you have the small opening just get a Console from The suburban or TAhoe. Also all of the 99 and up NBS come with the larges rectangular opeing if you have the full console. The blanks are still available from gm but are in limited quantities. vBulletin® v3.8.2, Copyright ©2000-2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
