i've tried aircraft paint stripper(stuff that eats all the way to the metal)and it didn't even phase it. also tried paint stripper, didn't work. i will try the steel wool trick but it is just that there is a thick rubberized layer that has to come off.
thanks for the advise

man, i wish there was something that could be done with my door panels. there's not any pieces really other than the armrest and handle cover piece that could be painted really.

That crap they use to glue on the vinyl on the factory panels is a bear to get off. On the older trucks(95-98) the cloth was hermeticly sealed to the backing. they probably use the same process which invloves a resin and heat. Best bet may be to leave it on and go over it.

i agree. fiberglass is your friend. rough it up the best you can, just wrap the matting to the back, it wont go anywhere.

I wouldnt just wrap the matting around it...I would drill holes in the panel and let the resin soak through it and then cover that with matting....

word...I did two layers on the back of mine to reinforce to hold my door pods and it has lifted in some areas....doesn't matter because its just bracing but if it was on the front and it was all bondo'd and painted that would suck...

i've thought about that, and i can do it now since i got a beater car to drive. i've thought of a black and yellow scheme. can interior paint work on carpetting also? cause otherwise i'd end up replacing the carpeting too.

I once painted my arm rests where the switches are mounted and it was like i had put black glue on it lol. Had to have it covered in black vinyl.
