Hey, guys. I bought a Gentex mirror for my truck and am trying to locate a ignition activated 12 volt source. The fuse panel has several source's giving 14 volt reads. Anyhow, the easiest way to do this and they way the instructions are given it says to splice into a 12v ignition activated wire. I have a 2000 Silverado and would appreciate if someone can tell me witch harness and wire color would make the best connection for the mirror. I know this may sound basic but, I do not want to take power fron something not worth messing with. I also, saw the mirror thread but it does not tell witch wire to tap into. Thanks, in advance guys.

As long as one of those wires that showed 14 volts is indeed an ignition fed wire (only shows voltage when ignition is turned on) then it should be fine to tie it in there.

If your truck is a '00, before you go to all the trouble of wiring it up yourself, check for the factory wire harness tucked up above the headliner (just to the left of the overhead console). Most trucks from '00 on were wired for the comp/temp/dim mirror even if they didnt have it.
If your mirror has the temperature function, you're still gonna have to add the temp sensor and wire it.
