Cut it off and thread it for a pool ball grip.

cut it off and weld on a nice polished snap-on wrench

it screws off, but it sounds like yours is busted!

there is a metal sleeve inside the plastic knob, since you have an 89, id bet its just detached from the plastic so its not gonna get u anywhere

if you dont wanna save it, just hack/bust the plastic off the knob and get a pair ov pliers on it

HAHA!I was just gonna post my first noob question, but I figured I search first and low and behold....I'm not the only one who feels like a moron turning this freakin knob 100+times.Time for demolition and fabrication!!

I joined back when I first bought my truck, but it's been sitting in my garage in mostly primer since I had the cab corners and rockers done.Just pulled it out a couple days ago and started gettin her ready for paint.= low post count

Any South Jersey peeps out there?I'd like to get more involved in the site.

Got mine off pretty easily.I took a utility knife and sliced off the bottom 3/4 inch of the knob all the way around. Then I took a hack saw and sawed thru the hard plastic piece underneath, all the way around again. Then the metal sleeve that is the actual threads was exposed and I just locked a set of mini vise-grips on it and it threaded right off.I did this all pretty neatly so I could re-use it.I'm in the process of getting the truck ready for paint so I got many things to before knob replacing.

Good luck!!
