The carpet in my 97 2-door hoe is pretty much trashed. So rather than trying to clean it and get some of the stains out, I am just going to replace the front and rear pieces. Has anyone done this with a 2 door tahoe or yukon? How tough is it?
I am trying to decide whether I want to replace the carpet with the same stock gray color or just use black. I was gonna order the carpet from CKRESTO.com.

Black always looks good to me. Just have to vacuum it often.

Do you think black carpet and then when I have the seats recovered with leather, do black leather seats too?

I think you should leave it gray. Black is too dark in my opinion:dunno:
If your ordering the premolded pieces it should be pretty easy to change out. I would think about replacing the padding too. I did this on my Iroc and took about 8 hours taking my sweet time.

How hard is it to remove the seats? Does anyone sell new seat bolts and washers etc? I took the seats out of my 89 truck to replace the carpeting a few years ago and could never get the stock bolts to work right. They were rusty and I never could get them to bolt back up just right.

I replaced the grungy, stained gray carpet in my '92 with black. At the time I was planning on doing a color-change to the truck and I figured gray/black interior would be perfect for a black truck. The number of waves in the body changed my mind on that color change job. :D
Anyway I still like the black carpet.. it shows dust a lot easier, but overall I think it looks better and isn't as easily stained.

I want to do this with my 2-door also. Wonder if gray would look weird since I have the white/light colored carpet??

I think it would look fine. Does anyone have a write up on here of how to remove the seats?

It should be just 4 bolts and whatever electrical connections that you have. To get them back in, just get all 4 bolts in loose and then tighten them all up. You will have problems with the seat bracket if you tighten each bolt completely without having all 4 bolts started.
If I were you, I would take a look and see if your going to need any new hardware before you take things apart and order everything that you'll need from C/K Resto or Mark on this site.

Yeah I am definately going to need new seat bolts. I also wanted to replace all of the screws on the threshhold and any other hardware that is comming out. The original pieces are pretty nasty, little rust and corrosion on em. I looked on ckresto, I didnt see any of these parts. Who is Mark on here?

I replaced the carpet in my 4 door tahoe about a year ago. went real smooth. Took about 8 hrs working by myself. Even the pre molded do not come with bolt holes pre cut so take your time and line the up as you go. Good Luck!
