Selling my tailgate off my 98 silverado. Nice and straight, no dings or dents, no rust no nothing! Was just painted last year.
Gate comes with SirMikes flip kit and a bully tailgate lock with 2 keys, back side is bed lined, painted side is black, custom emerald black green and pearl silver striped (not that it matters to whoever buys it haha)
I want 450 Canadian for the gate, I figure to get a quality shave job on a tailgate will cost around 250-400 bucks alone (not counting paint) the bed liner is still good, the flip kit was around 100 bucks and the lock was another 40 or so and the OEM gate alone is worth a nice amount, ill even include the two gate straps I bought last year at 15 bucks a piece! Buy this one and sell your stocker for a couple hundred and you will make out good!
I WON'T under any circumstances ship this gate...no chance, no way.
I "might" put it on a greyhound bus for another Canadian but that's it.

Hey, How much more would it cost to get your body guy to strip the paint and put a layer of primer on? My tailgate was shaved bad and i've been looking at redoing it, and since your kinda close if I could get it in a primer I could at least get it painted because some body shops around here do some decent paint. But I wouldn't trust them when it comes to sanding and priming. Maybe even leave it in the primer since I plan on getting a paint job eventually. I could even possibly pick it up if Metric Customs ever gets unbusy and gets to work on my crossmember tank mounts. I think i'm gonna take my truck to him and get him to notch everything also so I can lay frame. He says hes working on a white long box right now for DropSicles.

Okay I rechecked with my body guy, he says you would want to have it blocked out because of the stripe (other wise it would not need to be reprimed)
He said he will reblock the gate and put it back into primer for 100 bucks.
As for Metric, yea I feel bad for him haha, the guy with the white truck gave him a tight deadline so I don't think it will be done for dropsicles (however we all will be there, will you? Let me know and we can roll in together as we are all meeting before hand)
Anyways, it's getting a custom wishbone style rear-end so it's going to be another sick bagged chevy running around the city!
Later
PS. If you can take it at the show ill sell it to YOU for $400 bucks. (well take it after the show so I don't have to go gateless at the show haha) I would assume you could then flip your gate for at least 250-300 bucks (maybe more depending on the person) so this venture wouldn't really cost you much :)

No, I won't be able to make it to the show. I'm going to Coors Light trama tour in sylvan on saturday and to come home and go all the way to Edmonton is to much. My truck is at 199 800km so tomorrow I'll be rolling 200 000km. I plan on parking my truck next weekend for the winter also. I got hockey starting up, I play junior hockey, so i'll be pulling my winter vechile out and getting it ready for the winter to come. I might see if Mike will take my truck over the winter and notch everything to lay frame. Not sure if he does this stuff over winter though. What would be a rough estimate to get my back notched and everything in the front notched. Also do you have any interior pics of ur truck after all your digital stuff was installed and any pics of under ur bed just before it was put back on?
Thanks

bump from the grave.
Still for sale, 400 bones Canadian? Anyone?? Most shops will charge you this alone to have your gate shaved and have the flip Sir Mikes flip kit installed.
The flip kit alone was 100 bucks, lock was 40ish,
Killer deal! Treat yourself to a nice shave job!

Ill be taking lots of pics no worries, the install will be a pain I know that much, shave the lights then a bajillion little tack welds to get the skin on, then of course I gotta tack in some box tubing behind the skin and rollpan part of the skin for bracing, probably three bars on the top and one on the pan portion.
guage magazine has a great how-to on a dakota they did that's the one im following.
Anyways, tommorow the truck is getting a major tear down so ill start the pics :)
