Take all the parts that are attached to it. It has three screws at the top and two nuts on either side on the bottom.

i am planning on taking the dash off with everything attached; then just cutting the wires off everything that's connected to it so i can soder them to my wires..please list parts needed just in case i am forgetting any.

guages
a/c controls- (any ducts i should use to run air through vents?)

also top is it regular screws, or do i need a specific size?
thanx

Don't cut the harness!!!!!! Unbolt the connector on the engine bay side and separate the connector. Remove the glove box, should be two bolts up above, also take the bracket off the firewall behind the air bag. Drop the steering column bolts, carefully un-hook all the wire harness from the door harnesses, back of cab, etc. If your donor is the same body style as the your receipient, you should be able to reuse alot of the harness to save some time and grief. Take your time, should be worth it in the end.

edit: Don't forget to take the ducting for the vents also.

Wait so to remove just the plastic from the main upper dash all you do is take out throw three bolts and a couple on the sides and it lifts up assuming the front panel is off?

Little more to it than that but pretty much..... I think I took about an hour start to finish, although my donor was already missing the steering column.

Hmm interesting. I had considered smoothing the entire dash but someone told me you gotta take out like a thousand things and it takes hours to do...

my way took out the complete dash, wire harness, ducting, basically everything in one big piece. As long as you take it slow, wiggle the dash every ince in a while just to make sure you have all the fasteners out. It probably would help to have the seats out of the way as well......

It's not too bad if you just take your time. I probably got mine out in a hour without knoing what I was really doing... it's putting back in that takes a little more time. Just make sure you labeled where and what bolt went where. I put each are screw/bolt in their own ziplock bags.

There are two bolts under the glovebox that screw up to the airbag, one bolt on the left and right underside, 3 screws ontop. Undo those and all the little screws attaching wires and segments to the dash and you're good. You will want to undo the two bolts holding your steering column up, and then lower it down. This will help you out a lot when you are pulling the dash out. I lowered mine enough not to harm anything and just left it attached to my steering wheel and propped the steering wheel on a crate. The dash will pull up about an inch or two then it swings out pulling the top down towards you.

I took mine out in 30 minutes the first time I ever did it. Its not that bad if you dont have air bags.
