I want to do this to my cew cab as well, looks like it should be mildly easy, the back window, I think, is available from a glass shop, then it is just a matter of either wiring in a defrost switch from a donor vehicle, or finding a HVAC cotrol from a sub or tahoe (OBS) and chase the wiring harness to the back window...... Still looking for the HVAC controls myself to see if it feasible.
Not to hi-jack the thread, but why do you guys need a defroster on a flat back glass window? I always wonderd this....my friend ordered his '94 w/ one and he never gave me a good reason why. I drive my X-cab in the snow/rain/ice all the time and never had it fog or freeze up. Any little stuff that does stick to the window off the bed cover melts right off once the inside of the truck is warm.
Again...:sorry: for the hi-jack.

No problem from me, its just all about the toys........and prove to myself that it can be done. Also plan on figuring out a DIC in my '96.

well like ewertro said it's just to see if it can be done I would used it around here because there is lots of moisture in the air here in WA so you always have dew on the windows in the morning plus i dont park under a cover so when it freezes I hate haveing my back window frozen all the way to work in the mornings but mostly just to see if it can be done

it should, just get the hvac controller for one and see if theres any thing other than wires running back, unless it goes into the bcm where its on a timer, thats all i can think of.

It should be wired for it. My 98 is. You need a new HVAC with the rear defrost button. When I changed my HVAC on mine the rear defrost wiring was there.
