On a 07 1500 Classic regular cab base model truck with the standard rear view mirror, does anyone know if the rear view mirror is already pre-wired for the upgraded mirror with temp and compass? The mirror already has the airbag indicator light in it, but nothing else.
I saw some threads from some older trucks but didnt know if 06-07 models had this as well?

You might check this site: http://www.chevrolet.com/silveradoclassic/features/
It seems to say if you have the WT, 1LS or 2LS option you're out of luck.

Hmmm, I know you cant get it from the factory with those trim levels, but i am wondering if the wiring is already there or not.

My 06 1500 Work Truck is NOT wired for the temp sensor in the mirror. The compass in the new mirror works, but there is no wiring in the harness for the temp sensor, so it just displays 'OC'. A new harness from the dealer that is wired for the sensor is $22.
The 07's might be totally different though.

When you say harness, does that mean all of the wiring from the mirror all the way back to the fuse block or wherever it terminates? Or is it just a short piece from the mirror to another connector somewhere?

You mean the new harness from the dealer?
According to the parts lady, it's the harness, prewired with several inches of wiring. You have to cut the existing harness, and splice the new one on.
I ordered the new harness on Friday, it should be in tomorrow, so I can tell you for sure when it comes in.

The harness that I got from the dealer for $22 was the wrong harness. It was the harness that the temperature sensor plugs into.
The correct harness that has all of the wiring for the mirror already in it costs just under $200 from the dealer, IIRC.
So far, I've tried 4 different dealers, and none of them were able to find a reference saying what the correct size pin is. The last one dug through their bin of parts to rebuild wiring harnesses, and think they found the right pins for me, I just haven't had a chance to try them yet. Unfortunately, I don't have the part # for them.
