I'm redoing my dash in my 92 and at first I was going to smooth and paint it red, the same color as my truck, and all the other plastic pieces around the back of the cab and window. My buddy is real big on tweed, and has a Show winning S10, he is trying to convince me to Tweed my dash. So i looked around here for some ideas and noone really has tweed. What i was thinking was to paint the dash and tweed the insert in the middle, (I was going to shave my vents and leave defrost and floor) like glove box, the vent beside it, and the peice that holds the factory tape player and middle vents. I would use a tan tweed and possibly do my door skins and head liner too. Just like to get some thoughts as what to do, Paint it all, Tweed it all or something differen't.
Thanks Geoff.

May be last decade, but it's still clean. I say do a combo of the two. :dunno:
The dash in my '91 is smoothed and painted and I've got the rest of the plastics out sanding them down to be painted. I thought about tweed on the seats or door panels or something like that.

Yeah i think the combo would look cool. I had sanded down the whole dash though before he had mention tweed. So i still like the look of smoothed and painted, and i don't want all those hours of sanding gone to waste. Its either do this, or make a complete custom dash, I seen a dash in Street Trucks that looked good, I dunnno, I am totally up in the air about what to do.

:whyme: I definetly know what you are talking about, I have so much time invested in sanding that it's rediculous.
Good luck though.

:word:
It's a good "vintage" look, and it does look good. Only problem is that it carries dust well.

I guess it will just have to get vaccumed, if thats the route I go. What do you guys think of Painting the dash red and doing other MISC trim peicesed in a taupe, or a tanish color, kinda like what they do in hot rods and whatnot,

I love tweed. "its so last decade" Just because people buy into a trend and everyone has to do the same thing and way overdo it dosen't mean we have to stop using it. Well at least I don't think so, some will disagree. Heres a pretty old pic and its not the best but here we go: http://i490.photobucket.com/albums/rr263/mashed68/inside1.jpg
