5 speed shifter

Hey guys,

I bought a Hurst shifter for my truck from a fellow FSC member about two weeks ago. My truck is a '96, his was a '98. We both assumed that any shifter for a NV3500 would work. It doesn't. After some research, it seems that there are actually 3 different part numbers depending on the model year, and this shifter is for '98 and up. I was wondering, is there any type adapter that would allow me to use this shifter in my truck? Or do I just need to bite the bullet and order the correct one from Summit or Jegs? The way my luck is running on this project I think I know the answer!

Contact Hurst and get a parts list for both shifters and compare them. Hurst usually tries to make as many pieces as common as possible and it might be as easy as ordering a replacement part and swapping it out. You shouldn't have any trouble selling yours on eBay though if the part swap idea doesn't workout.
