HELP with OIL Gauge

I have a 94' GMC yukon with a 350 TBI engine, well for some reason my oil gauge doesnt work anymore and the "check gauges" light came on, i replaced the oil sending unit i think its called, its the one behing the intake towards the firewall. and it still didnt work.. so i dont know what it is, all the other gauges still work perfectly fine. So i figure its just the actual gauge that is bad, so i wanted to get an auto meter custom oil gauge and mount it.

Here is the deal, since the oil guage not working set off the light in dash, am i supposed to get a special oil gauge to work with the computer? And where is the best place to hook up the aftermarket gauge to get the oil press. reading?

if u are gonna use an aftermarket u put your fitting where your stock oil sending unit goes then mounting it in the truck is your preference
