Has anyone ever rewired their cargo light so it will turn on without having to turn on the interior lights or open the door?

View Full Version : Any way to turn on cargo light w/o interior lights? Ward83 04-04-2007, 01:47 AM Has anyone ever rewired their cargo light so it will turn on without having to turn on the interior lights or open the door? gmcman7202 04-04-2007, 01:51 AM mine goes on with a button on the dash, its factory that way, however i have a 2002, so i would say ya you can do that with yours, anything is possible depending on how much you wanna do.... 99-2door 04-04-2007, 02:20 AM Just change the feed wire on the switch from "hot with interior light on" to "constant hot" or "hot with Ignition". If you put it on constant it could be a constant source of draining your battery since you might not notice it on during the day. I was thinking about this the other day with my 3500 because at night trying to back in to hook up a gooseneck is almost impossible with the interior light on. I am going to probably wire mine so that I can turn it on with the Ignition in ACC or RUN wihtout the interior light being on. I have sort of the same problem, I back into my driveway, and I can't see so well by just the reverse lights. Also, I occasionally haul stuff in the bed, and it would be nice to be able to flip on the cargo light for a second while driving, to make sure nothing has moved around in the bed. vBulletin® v3.8.2, Copyright ©2000-2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
