Howdy all,

As the title says I have an 05 Silverado and I've been told that there is a transmission temperature sensor already wired into the harness for the gauge cluster. I also know that the SS model has the same cluster with the temp gauge in it but there's a couple things I'm unsure of. I don't know if there really is a sensor wired into my truck. I don't see anything obvious coming off the transmission but my eyes have been known to deceive me at times.

Also if I do have the sensor wired in would I have to buy a SS gauge cluster or can I just buy the gauge I'm looking for and install it on my exsiting cluster with a little drilling for the new needle or would I be better off to buy an aftermarket gauge and just rerun the sensor wire to the new gauge provided it has the sensor? If it doesn't have the sensor I'll have to buy the aftermarket kit and run all of that which is no real big dial.

Thanks in advance for any advice you have.

Alan

On ebay there is a guy that will add them. He is in bristol CT. I cant remember his name but search chevy speedometer and he should come up. I have an 04 and the speedo quit working. I pulled the guage cluster out and sent it to him on a friday On tuesday I had it back and monday was even a holiday. Anyway he added a trans temp to my cluster and sent it back. It cost about $230 which included the new guage as well as new lights and motors for all the rest of the guages. I just pluged it in and it worked. Mine is a halfton if that matters. You can drive the truck with the cluster out you just dont have any feedback to you.

cool, I'll look into that and see what comes out, I'll get under the truck and give a better look around for the sending unit too just to make sure I have it but you said you're 04 had it so I'm guessing mine will as well as I have the towing package.
