I went to the parts store (Advanced) and bought a pair of 'strong arm' support struts for my rear glass window on my 93' Full size Blazer. Popped the old ones off, put the new ones on and they are worse than the bad ones. Seems like they can't support the weight of the window at all. I find this unusual because it took some serious pressure by me to get them to compress so I could get them on.

I thought maybe there was a way to adjust how much pressure they had, so I went back to the parts store to ask. They said no, they should just work..."you must have a bad pair". They give me a new pair and install them in the parking lot....same thing. They said the glass is too heavy (even though their system said these were the right supports).

Got my money back and tried autozone (mighty max) supports. They are also too weak. Its safe to say that the 'strong arms' are not strong, and the 'mighty max's' are far from mighty. Where can I get a set that will do what it is supposed to? Is there really not a way to adjust the strength on them?

i put strong arms on my tahoe last weekend and they work like a charm. i only need them to support the glass up though, the tailgate still goes down. think my part numbers were 4650 but yours might be different. you might give the local salvage yards a call, see if they have a good set.
