will a needle gauge cluster out of a 91 (i think) be a plug and play swap for the "half-moons" in my 90 model?

No, a couple wires are different on the 90's. The 91 is plug and play. There are TONS of articles about this topic, and some of them answer this question, but it's no big deal.

With the '91 cluster, you will have to move a couple of pins inside the pigtail and run a wire for the tach. On my '90, I wired in the cluster and DRAC from a '92. It was a bit more work, but it was cheaper and it gave me the ability to adjust my speedo for any gear or tire changes.

There is no tach on either of the guage sets I have; the half moons or the needles. This is what lead me to believe that it came out of a '91, but I could very well be wrong about it..

I'm assuming that this still means it's not a plug and play swap? Thanks for the feedback guys!

Look at the back of the needle gauge. If it looks like this then it is a '91. If it doesn't, then it came out of a '92-'94 and will require a DRAC and '92 harness to make it work.

I know the cluster you are talking about, it is from the 92-94 trucks and no it is not plug and play. Chevy used the moon gauges through 91 and starting in 92, they were fazed out. I know because my 91 has moonie gauges. It has a different connector on the back and you still will need to go the DRAC route.

The late '91's had needle guages with tach. Put one in my '88.
