My custom Mem-Cal from Sinister Performance helped to drop nearly three quarters of a second of my best 1/4 mile ET and added over 3 mph.

Best Times before the tune was: Best Times After the tune was:

Before 60'...........> 2.48 After ................> 2.39
1/8th.........> 11.16 ................> 10.74
1/8th mph.....> 60.08 ................> 63.64
1/4 ET........> 17.71 ................> 16.98
1/4 mph.......> 75.22 ................> 78.38

Best Mph overall......> 76.25 ................> 79.06

Not jaw dropping but pretty good for a $50.00 tune!

So, I guess this translates into the E.T. Guesstimator you used is crap???

Congrats on the results, though... Talk about bang for the buck!!!

I just talked about that in another forum, turns out that the TTS DataMaster program will not give accurate drag times or horse power estimates when a system error or a trouble code is active in the data. Yesterday I had a trouble code 43 while running the test and logging data. This screwed everything up. If you remember It showed a 15 second run at 101 mph (no way) also it had me with a 1.8 60' time again no way.

I cleared the code this morning and ran new test according to the pdf instructions that came with DataMaster. Once I figured out how to work the dang thing, it actually works pretty good. Its like being with a women you got to read the instructions, you can't just dive in and expect to make it happen :mushy:

Dude, if you can gain .73 and 3mph for $50 sign me the fugg up!
Usually it's $1000 per second is good.
100bhp increase = 1 second faster = 10mph faster

Your formula works fine in a 3400-3500 F-body.
In a 4000+ lb truck it can range from
110-140hp gain = 1 second faster = 10 mph faster due to teh trucks higher weight, and worse aerodynamics.

I want your Vette.

Dang, I can't believe before your tune, I could out run you. That makes me feel special:aniteef:. Once I get a tune, maybe I'll still be able to beat you, but probably not.

Was more than just the tune, I had some major issues holding the truck back. They have been repaired in the past few weeks and now the truck is where it should have been all the while. Check it:

60' > 2.21
1/8 > 9.84 @ 68 mph
1/4 > 15.78 @ 83 mph

And to you other guys, the average custom tune will net .5 - 1.0 seconds over a GM econo tune. Your figures may be right on a 12 second car/truck. 1 second is very hard to come by then but its apples to freggin' pizza with your comparison.

Its difficult to make a fast car faster.
Its very hard to make a really fast car faster.
Its nothing to make a very slow truck faster!

What your talking about is true for a vehicle that is already power efficient like a 12 second car. But in these trucks the factory has them so tied down with emissions, fuel economy, power restrictions, etc. Your not making any new horse power at this level, your just releasing whats already there. Most custom tunes net a stock vehicle between .5 and 1.0 seconds, this is common and well documented.

Got the truck debugged and running real good check the numbers on my signature below, you got more than a little ketchup to do. Sorry, I know you liked being faster than a V-8.

My 1998 GMC Sierra 4.3l ran:
60'...2.388
1/8...10.436
1/4...16.314
MPH...82.52

This was with crappy front suspension, rearend dropped, front stock height, bad plugs. But the truck does have full cat back exhaust and a programmer. Oh, and it had been sitting for 7mths

Got an MSD box today, Ya'll are all goin' down.:rocket: :gay: :chair:
And 1998=Vortec gen 2 motor
1991=TBI motor, you have a 40HP advantage stock.
And Savage, well YOUR REAR END SITS TOO HIGH, Burn:D.

Are you saying my truck has a badonka-donk? Man, that sucks, I quess I'll have to let some air out of the shocks, and forgo the 1970's Detroit Lean. I don't want to look like I just jumped the border....scrapin' the pavment!

Not bad numbers for a 4.3 is it a Vortec V-6? A tune up and some mods and you'd be right there...:daddy: My midgit tires cost me a lot of mph, but help with the 60' and 1/8 mile. With taller tires my mph would probably be around 87-89.

You sayin' my truck has a badonka-donk, is that what I'm hearing?

:word: It's tight on a 70 Chevelle SS. It's still hot on your truck, don't get me wrong.:rsr: Technically my V6 is a Vortec, but it's a gen 1. I can't wait till it stops rainin' at my house so I can do another 1/4 mile, I think it's gonna be a lot faster than stock. Open air intake, tb spacer, injector spacer, afpr, msd box, msd coil, gapped plugs, and new pcv valve(no gain, I know). Sure feels like it runs better.
