I was just wondering what the average HP gain in a custom tune is? I know it depends on who does it and what you get it for and stuff but if you just have new exhaust, what do you think the average gain on a 95 tbi is?

View Full Version : How much HP? 95_Sierra 07-11-2007, 09:38 PM I was just wondering what the average HP gain in a custom tune is? You are talking mucho variables discostu 07-12-2007, 11:37 AM It also depends on how out-of-tune you are right now. A stock engine won't see as much gains as a modded engine that was using the stock tune. hornsfan10609 07-14-2007, 11:17 AM First, you should do a few relatively cheap and easy mods. You will get a lot more power, from 10-15 HP to 50-60 HP, and torque. And, down the road if you decide you want to do more mods, and your tune doesn't include those mods, you won't get as much bang for your buck. Usually you don't get a chip until you are completely done with everything. If you aren't doing anything more then go for it, but I would look into CFM tech.com or TBIchips.com for the mods they recommend and TBIchips especailly for the custom tune. If you decide to do Vortec heads, carbed intake with adapter plate or GMPP tbi to vortec intake, Throttle body spacer, injector pod spacer, adjustable fuel pressure regulator, headers, cam, and hypertech power charger, then you could gain possibly 100 HP or more. Savage Sierra 07-15-2007, 12:59 AM Hey hornsfan10609, got some bad news for ya. I got my truck debugged and its a lot quicker than before, so you got some 'ketchup' to do. I had some major problems that I wasn't aware of but now they've been addressed. Check my Signature below for my drag times! badkelly 07-20-2007, 02:58 AM granted, i've got a ton of stuff done, but individually, i gained 19hp from a dynotune in fastchip in tulsa. whether or not all the other mods enhanced the tune or not, i don't know. but from a baseline at 8am to the final run around noon, i gained 19 at the wheels. 1TORUN 08-05-2007, 10:18 PM You have anything else done to run a 9.84 in the 1/8th? I haven't been to the strip yet but was hoping for mid 9's but I may be more in the high 8's or so with the juice flowing too! Still gotta get some new tires for the rear and some Cal Tracs it looks like... It's only money right? hornsfan10609 08-07-2007, 02:50 PM Hey hornsfan10609, got some bad news for ya. Check my sig to see what else I drive! :aniteef: Savage Sierra 08-07-2007, 05:54 PM Its probably pretty fast, that mushtang, but you should have bought a 94 Camaro or FireBird then you'd really be fast. My mods are listed in my gallery, but the smaller tires changed my final gear ratio from 3.48:1 to 3.72:1 and thats the main factor that got me in the 9's. Problem w/small tires is, they kill your mph. My truck would be good for a 1/8 mile track, but the local track I goto is 1/4 mile. Its more for stop light to stop light. In the distance run Rosie O'Donel could beat me in a wheel chair. vBulletin v3.5.1, Copyright ©2000-2008, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
