once orange line at the end of my moonies disappears into the dash, it starts coming up black starting at 0mph and goes up. Ive had the black go up to about 15 on a trip to St. Lucie...

est. to be about 95-105mph. solid as a rock at those speeds as well :fsc:

considering the gauges only go to 85, and 88-99s are limited to 96 or 97 mph, I sure haven't.

do it all the time, the ol'305 wraps them back around to 10-12mph. anyone ever checked to see how fast that really its?

Pretty sure it didn't start cutting out until the 4l60e came out, cause I've had mine wrapped around pretty far.

Yeah, for some reason it didn't do it before, but I wrapped it up against a newish v-6 junk-stang. I think it hit the limiter @ 98, but I'm not sure. I think it showed about 15.

RCLBs and RCSB have a one-peice drive shaft that hits its resonance frequency at about 100 mph.

*edit* that's why they have the limiter @ 98ish.

I had my gauge up to 15 or 20 once, with 3.08 gears it has a lot of top end.

Canadian cluster goes to 140 Kmh, had it wrapped around to 60 Km on the flip side once. Had to slow down after that, didn't feel like getting thrown in jail for doing 120 MPH.

The speed limiter has nothing to do with which transmission is in there. It's PCM controlled. My buddies 91 cuts out at 100ish.

I didn't think the speed limiters were introduced until 93 or 94? When I had a custom chip done once the programmer said that the 91 chip did not have a speed limiter. ??? He said that they starting coming on the trucks about 93/94, but they can be programmed out anyway. All I know is my 91 is capable of going well past the 100.

Not my buddies 91 or my other buddies 89 for that matter. :dunno:

I didn't know just make a guess since my 93 would cut out and the 90 doesn't seem to.

That's weird, maybe the Canadian ECM programs are different :dunno:

Come to think of it, maybe that's why I didn't have a problem. Because the chip was/is not stock as a result of the SC...

Who knows. :dunno: I remember 10 yeas ago when I drove moms 89 Ford Aerostar :run: Fugger would cut out at 90ish. My buddies parents 96 Windstar would do 120+. :wtf:

what kind of POS C/K's do ya'll have that are speed limited? i have had 3, a '90 C1500, an '89 K1500 and my '91 K1500 and NONE of them had a speed limiter...AT ALL. i've had mine wrapped around to 40 before on a LOOOOONG stretch...wasn't about to try and snap a picture...fvck that noise...

oh yea, and the '89 K1500 was a RCLB so there goes that theory...the other two were both ext. cab short beds...the '90 C1500 was a 350/5-speed...

lol, i'm not kidding...i really did wrap it to 40...it took me forever to get there...the stretch was a few miles long...i just stayed in it as hard as i could without it dropping OD. can't wait to get the Corvette servo...i know why everyone else said 35...it wants to stop at 35 and looks like it does...truth be told, if you hold into it, it will slowly creep up a little more...

and there was this other time i wrapped it to 85...twice...the third time it comes around aquamarine...

Yeah-- when mine wrapped around the third time it was plain white with a picture of a cartoon cop with a ticket book.

Even if you have video going around to 30 let's see it.

FordeatinZ71

ok, let me upload it...its crappy though, it's on my phone...and i just barely hit 30 when i ran out of road...on a longer road i could have kept on going though...it was still climbing...

ok, here's the video...try to be understanding...its a 5,300 lb truck with a 192k 350 in it...backed by a 700R4 with weak servos...i just noticed watching the vid again, it looks like i hit 29 the second time around but i stopped the camera a wee bit early...it was 30...

I missunderstood what your moonie guys meant. I thought you actually wrapped the red line on the moonies all the way around to 30-40. Nothing special there.

well, stock tire size...192k original...as far as i know it's never been screwed with. i also know that when i've passed those "speed limit" signs that tell you your speed its always been dead on...

lmao, i was gonna put my truck on jackstands and wrap it around to like 75 just to see what reaction i'd get...

HELL NO! you realize how fast that would be going? by my quick math that would be around 200 mph...we don't all have S/C'd Z71s...lol[/quote]
