As the title states, I have a question about the final wetsand and buff I'll be doing on my bumper soon. I know the basic process but I was hoping somebody could chime in with maybe the best grits of paper and products.

When I did my tail lights, I sanded out the orange peel with 1500 and then sanded out those scratches with 2000. After that I used ScratchX to cut those and then did a final buff with some cleaner wax and then NXT wax. I planned on doing the same thing but have a DA now and know now of the existance of better cutting polishes and other products.

So will my previous method work just as well or are there better/faster result producing products I should be using?

yes 1500 then 2000 should be plenty of sanding. (1200 if you have runs or heavy orange peel first) if you dont have a orbital buffer then use the da polisher and 3m perfect it to buff and 3m perfect it for the final polish, it will look great.

3M is good, but Farecla makes a great product. ive used their high solids compound and its great stuff. it will easily polish out 1500 and get halfway through the glaze step. for glaze i usually use this stuff called plum crazy, real nice.

this might help (http://www.tcpglobal.com/detailsupplydepot/dsd7.aspx)

Thanks for the suggestsions. I ended up sanding to 2000 and then using some Meguiars M83 for a test spot. Its still not as glossy as I would like though. Tomorrow I plan on finishing up with the 83 and then moving to 80. What is there after 80 that would work well for a final buff?
