im looking to install an STS turbo system (7-8 lbs. of boost to start off) on my rig and was wondering what all i should do to ensure my 4L60E can withstand the power. maybe a trans-go shift kit, vette servo, and 3000 stall? or would it be more cost-effective to grab a used 4L80E from the junkyard down the road? i will be doing a cam swap in the near future as well (Lingenfelter GT2-3, ive heard it works well with boosted applications) and a custom tune of course. opinions/experiece would make this alot easier thanks in advance! --aaron

A 4l80 swap will cost alot of money unleass you can fabricate mounts for it. The 4L80 is longer than the 4L60 meaning the rear driveshaft will need to be shortenend and the front driveshaft will have to be lengthened( if you have a 4x4.)

go here: http://www.transmissioncenter.net/4L60E.htm#4L60E%20to%204L80E

the shift kit(recommend transgo hd2) and servo should hold up for a while (unless you will be racing.)

might be cheaper to save up for a built 4L60E, when yours goes out.
