I am picking up my clockspring on monday (hopefully), and already have my wheel w/ the controls.

If I install everything, and then take the truck to a dealer and complain that the DIC or radio controls don't work, do you think they would just reprogram it under warranty? (I still have about 1200 miles left.)

Nope. The dealer has access to the RPO codes that your truck was orignially sold with... We know if you were supposed to have steering wheel controls, and won't pay to anything that you weren't supposed to have.

You'll have to pay for the reprogram out of pocket, should be about .5hrs labour or so...

Doesn't hurt to ask.....

I talked to one of the dealers the other day, and was told about $200 to do the reprogram.... They were quoting me about 2 hours of work......

That seems a little hefty for just the reprogram. At my shop (Chev dealer) we normally charge a little between .5 to 1 hr for a reprogram. This would be a little different, in that you're adding options that the vehicle wasn't equipped with, would have to call GM Techlink, get a VCI number, blah, blah, blah... but 2 hrs? Perhaps if they installed the clockspring and steering wheel as well...

Nope... I am doing the wheel and clockspring myself..... my local dealer has it in stock.... so I just need to make sure I have the $140 for the new one.....

Would be nice to find someone in the Central Florida area who would do the reprogram for me for cheap........

You'd still need the dealer for the program. GM doesn't allow the aftermarket guys access to it's programs and what-not.
