For us taller guys (im 6'2") that have a reg cab, the seats always seemed too tall to me. Especially since i have a standard when i used to let the clutch out my knee would hit the steering wheel/directional stick. (the clutch throw in these trucks is really long.) Anyway i figured that 1in lower would be perfect and i was right. So heres how i did it

looked at the factory bracket and noticed that the top portion is covered by the seat and marked how far the seat comes down

this is the pass side i havent done the pass side yet

so next i took the seat out and dissconnected the seat brackets
(4 15mm bolts to unbolt the seat and 4 10mm bolts to undo the bracket)

once out i measured a 1/4 inch up from the seat line then an inch up from that line so i had an even one inch line to cut out.

I cut the inch out of the brackets with a whiz wheel (3in cutoff wheel)

Placed the two pieces together held with vise grips and welded both front and back

Quick scuff and paint and voila.

overall start to finsih took me 2hrs and a good 30min of that was watching paint dry.

It makes a huge diffence in comfort and room in the cab. Makes it easier to drive and see for me , and im sure anyone whos taller especially with the stickshift would appreciate it. Looks stock, have to really look for the weld to see it.

I have no shots of me doing the work but i will be doing the passeneger side soon so if theres enough intrest id do a pictoral step by step.

cheers
