Air Bag Light?

on my truck 07 classic. the airbag light is on all the time. should be on??? its the light with the lil guy in a seat and a airbag in his face with the seat belt on..????

no it shouldn't be on, if its an 07, its on warranty take it back into the dealer to fix it for free.

go GM.. lol my moms bonneville had that on... they spent 9 grand trying to fix it.. 3 air bags, ground shipped from mexico or whatever... thousands in labor.. sensors.. parts... it was rediculous.. finally she just sold them the car... make sure its recoreded everytime something happens with it cuz if it goes on again out of warranty it could cost you thousands...

so there is something wrong with it? because i have 43000 miles already... no more warrenty!!!!! so its not covered???? plus what does the light mean??. i am so pissed now.... so what can i do??? i bought truck with 37000 and disscussed some problems with the truck with the salesman he was going to fix and never did... like the frontend shake. never got fixed after 3 times of taken it up there.

how is your warranty expired if its an '07, right now gm has the 3 year such and such mileage. in canada its 3 years 160 000kms, so shouldn;t the smerican one be roughly 3 years 100 000miles, or something, warranty stays on the vehicle no matter who has it.
i work at a dealer and you pick up on alot of stuff.

and if they don't fix it go to another dealer, gm warranty is all the same which ever gm dealer you to.

07 classic...no warrenty is up at 36000 miles bumper to bumper.. 100,000 miles only covers drive train and engine. unless i am wrong and read wrong. if you work for a dealer let me know the low down. so i can get this fixed. thanks.

Cant blame you on the miles, you're in Houston so we drive tons down here. When the air bag light comes the bags might or might not deploy the air bag system can deactivate. Yeah, basic warranty is 3/36000mi so if you have extended warratny to might cover the repair.

hmm, thats weird here in canada starting in 2004 it has been 3 years 160 000kms, and that covers everything not just powertrain. i will check with are service manager tommorow to see if he knows what the American one is supposed to be at.

Get it scanned and it will tell you where the problem lies. Not the cheapo auto-zone scanner, but one that can read enhanced GM data.

well i double checked, and it turns out the american one is 3 years 36 000 miles for everything except powertrain, powertrain goes to 100 000 miles.

Get it scanned for codes, then that code(s) can LEAD you in the direction where the problem is, It will not tell you what part it needs.(i'm not referring to 99-2door's post) With the light on, that means that the Air Bag system has been deactivated and they will not be deployed in an accident.

wait a minute where is the light? is it the one in the I/P (cluster) or the one in the middle of the dash/rear view mirror? because that one is the passinger side bag, that is sensed from the seat sensor, and will illuminate depending if there is someone in the passsinger side or not.
